Recommendation to the Lord Chancelor and Advocat anent privateers in Orkney

The Lords of their Majesties privie Councell Having Considered a Letter from […] Grhame of Grameshall direct to the Lord High Chancelor dated the tuelvth day of June Instant Giving ane account that tuo privateers had been at Orkney one of fourty tuo and another of tuenty Guns That they had fallen upon three English ships wherof they took and Carryed away one Ransomed a second and brunt a third That they Landed at the Isle of Lambsound plundered some of the Inhabitants and threatned they should shortly returne and doe more prejudice The saids Lords Recommend to the Lord High Chancelor to acquant the Secretaries of State uith the Contents of his Lordships Letter and to Sir James Steuart, their Majesties advocat to prepare a draught of a Letter from their Lordships to the steuart of Orkney and Zetland Requyring him to take care of the Countrey and to doe what he Can for security of the place and to Incourage the Inhabitants and returne account to the Councell of the Condition of the Countrey and Its Inhabitants In order to secure and defend themselves against their Majesties Enemies And to present the same to the Councell against Thursday nixt
