Act Anent some deficient men of Buckcleughs Lands In Drumfries or Roxburghshire
Anent the memoriall given in to the Lords of their Majesties privy Councell By Sir William Douglass Sheuing That wheras the Commissioners of Cess and supplie for the shire of Drumfreis and Nithsdale Did appoint the Dutches of Buckcleugh Lands in these shires to furnish the number of tuentie four men as their proportione of the new Levys which they refuised to doe In regaird they sayd They behooved to furnish the said proportione for the shire of Roxburgh The Dutches estate being disjoyned from the shire of Nithsdale And therfore Humbly Craving their Lordships to take the premisses into their Consideration and to appointe one of these tuo shires to furnish the said number of four and tuenty men which they are now deficient of to be delyvered to the said Collonell Douglas uith the rest of their deficiency or to order some other way for the getting of them as their Lordships shall think fitt as the said memoriall bears The Saids Lords of their majesties privy Councell Having Considered the above memoriall They heirby appoint Sir Gilbert Eliot their Clerk to wryte to the Clerk of the Commissioners of supplie in both shires of Drumfreis and Roxburgh That they send in some of their number to attend the Councell in the begining of Juny nixt for adjusting any differences betuixt these tuo shires anent the Levy to be putt out of the Dutchess of Buckcleughs Lands.
