Anent the petitione given in to the Lords of their Majesties privy Councell By Mr William Gray Sheuing That wher the petitioner having exercised the office of ane ordinary Advocat before the Lords of session from the beginning of the year in Jaj vic Eightie nyne untill he uas admitted shirref deput of Angus about three years since or therby since which tyme he did follow closs that Imployment as shirref depute and waited Constantly upon the Court to serve the Leidges of that shire uithout giving the usuall attendance as ane Advocat upon the sessions as he formerly used to doe And the petitioner having duely qualified himself as shirref deput and Lykeuise in other stations by taking the oaths of alleadgance and assurance He had noe thought nor Consideratione of the Certification of the Act of parliament debarring all ordinary Advocats who should not duely qualifie themselves as such betuixt and the prefixed day therinmentioned from exercising their Imployment for the future And that in respect the petitioner did In a manner neglect his Imployment as ane Advocat during the tyme he was shirref deput And it being their Lordships benigne practique to allow and admitt of any relevant excuse for purging the Contumacy of such persons who have not given precise obedience by taking the oaths and qualifying themselves uithin the tyme prefixed by Law And therfore Humbly Craving to the effect underwryten as the said petitione bears The Saids Lords of their majesties privy Councell Having Considered the above petitione They heirby Recommend to any one of the Lords of their majesties privy Councell to Administer the oath of alleadgance and assurance to the petitioner And In respect he hath suorne and signed the oath of alleadgance and signed the assurance They heirby repone the petitioner to the office of ane Advocat And Declares that he hes full right to exerce the said office and Enjoy all the privileges therof alse freely as if he had qualified himself as ane Advocat uithin the tyme prescribed by the act of parliament
