[Leivtenant Collonel Steuart imprisoned]
Leivtenant Collonell Steuart who was Cited by order of the Lords of privie Councell To have ansuered this day for disobeying the order of a Committie of Councell wherby he was requyred to send ashoar from John Watsone in Callforgie who was shipped as a souldier for Flanders And Ansuering that he uould respect noe order but ane express from Sir Thomas Livingstoune Commander in cheiff of their Majesties forces within this kingdome Having Compeared personallie and the Instrument taken against him being read He declared That if he had In any manner transgressed the Councells Commands It uas meer ignorance uithout designe And therfore he was absolutly Innocent of all Contempt The Lords of their Majesties privie Councell Having Considered the matter and particularly the above Instrument Bearing the particular words above exprest They ordered the Leivt Collonell to be Carryed prisoner from the barr to the tolbooth of Edinburgh And In the mean tyme ordaines the Leivtenant Collonell to Cause transport the persone of the said John Watsone from any ship wherin he is to the tolbooth of Edinburgh and the magistrats of Edinburgh and Keeper of their tolbooth to detaine him till farder order from the Councell or the Committie appointed anent pressed men And Recommends to the Committie to Give order for Liberating the said Leivtenant Collonell after the said John Watsone shall be brought in to the said tolbooth
