Procedure: committee formed

Committie Anent Beggars and highwayes

The Lords of their majesties privie Councell Doe heirby nominat and appoint the Earls of Drumlangrig Morton Lothian Leven Annandale and Forfar The Viscount of Tarbat The Lord Advocat the Lord Justice Clerk and Sir Thomas Livingstoune Commander in cheiff of their Majesties forces uithin this Kingdome for seing the Laues acts and proclamations anent beggars and vagabounds and also anent highwayes putt to due executione And particularly to receave in and Consider the representationes that shall be sent aither to the Councell or the said Committie from the shirreffs of shires or their Deputes Justices of peace or magistrats of royall burghs In obedience to the proclamatione emitted this day anent the saids beggers and vagabounds with pouer to the said Committie or their quorum to Call and Conveen the magistrats forsaids the masters forsaids to whom the execution of the saids acts and proclamations are Committed And particularly the magistrats of Edinburgh and to examine and take tryall of their negligence in the said matter And to modifie the fynes and penalties to be exacted from them for the same And Generallie to doe in the matters forsaids as they shall find Just and in case of difficultie to report to the Councell And Declares any three of the above Committie to be a sufficient Quorum And Recommends to them to meet upon Teusday nixt at ten in the forenoon and therafter at such other dyetts as they shall appoint from tyme to tyme
