Att Edinburgh The seventh day of March Jaj vic nyntie four years

Procedure: committee formed

Committie and ordors anent the Levyes in the shire of Air

The Lords of their Majesties privie Councill Having heard a Letter from the Commissioners of Supplie within the shire of Air To the Lord High Chancelor red in their presence Giving account that about fourteen or fifteen men of that shyres proportione of the present Levy are fallen sick or escaped when they should have been delyvered And therfore Craving a further tyme may be alloued to them for making up the Lyke number of men againe And Sir Thomas Livingstoune Commander in cheiff of their Majesties forces uithin this kingdome Having Informed their Lordships that the officers that the officers2 who receaved the shyre of Air their proportione of the said Levy Compleans to him that severall of the men delyvered are Insufficient and not fitt for their Majesties service The saids Lords doe heirby assigne to the Commissioners of Supplie uithin the said shire of Air the tuenty tuo day of March Instant for finding out and making up such of their quota of the saids Levys as have fallen sick or made their escape or are not delyvered And appoints them to send in and delyver att Edinburgh or Leith the men not yet delyvered of their quota betuixt and the day forsaid And Recommends to the Earle of Forfar the Lord Ross and the said Sir Thomas Livingstoun or any tuo of them to view the bodies of the men sent from the said shyre as their proportione of the saids Levys And to Consider if these men be sufficient with pouer to them or any tuo of them as said is to Cast such of these men as they shall find Insufficient And Recommends to the saids persons to take tryall by whom the men who shall be Cast as Insufficient were putt out And to report the names of their outputters to the Committie of Councill appointed anent persons alleadged pressed to be souldiers And Recommends to that Committie or their preses to wryte to the Commissioners of supplie of the shyre of Air That they Cause the outputters of these men send into and delyver at Edinburgh or Leith other sufficient men in their stead betuixt and the said tuenty tuo day of march Instant as they uill be ansuerable
