Warrand for Burning some popish books
The Lords of his Majesties privie Councell Being Informed by Sir James Steuart his Majesties advocat That ther are some printed Coppies of the popish books following viz The one therof The exposition of the doctrine of the Catholick Church in matters of Contraversie Ane other ane Ansuer to Monseur Deredens funerall of the Mess And the third the Question of Questions which is who ought to be our Judges In all differences in Religion seised upon a privat house at Edinburgh and that the same are Carryed to and Lying at the Lodging of Sir Robert Cheislie present provost of Edinburgh one of their Lordships oune number The saids Lords Doe heirby authorize and Impoure the said Lord provost of Edinburgh to Cause burne the saids books in the Back closs of the toune Councell by the hand of the Commone executioner of the toune of Edinburgh untill they be Consumed to ashes
