Warrant

Warrand to receive detaine recruits in Leith Tolbooth without dues

The Lords of his majesties privy Councill doe hereby ordaine the Magistrats of Leith and keeper of ther Tolbooth To receive and detaine into their Tolbooth the recruits which shall be transported to the same from the Castle of Edinburgh and that without exacting any dews or money either for the booking or keeping of the said recruits In respect the magistrats are not answerable for the said recruits In case they shal escape seeing they are to be guarded by a pairtie of his majesties Souldiers who are to keep watch upon the said recruits
