Liberatione James Campbell
Anent the petitione Given In to their Majesties High Commissioner and the Lords of privie Councell Be James Campbell prisoner in the tolbooth of Edinburgh Sheuing That the supplicant Having uith all submissione represented the deep sense and sorrow he had for his former Crymes and miscarriages And that he uas fully resolved to Live a better Life for the future did so farr prevaill uith their Lordships mercy that they have been pleased most graciously to Grant him tuo severall Repryvalls The supplicant therfore Continouing still to Give all the sincere prooffs of a Reall penitent Doe againe presume to cast himself at his Grace and their Lordships feet and to Implore the Continuatione of that mercy and goodness that hes hitherto been shouen unto him And therfore Humbly Supplicating his Grace and their Lordships to take the premisses to their consideratione And to take Compassione on the poor supplicant and his poor family and to Grant a farder repryvall or to banish him for ever from his Majesties dominiones upon his finding Cautione never to returne therto as the said supplicatione Bears Their Majesties High Commissioner and Lords of privie Councell Having Considered the petitione given in to them Be the said James Campbell They Heirby Give ordor and uarrand to the Magistrats of Edinburgh and keeper of their tolbooth to delyver the said James to the Earle of Argyle when he shall requyre him To be transported abroad by his Lordships furth of their Majesties dominiones uith the first fleet going from hence In respect the said James Campbell Hath Inacted himself in the books of privie Councell That he shall Goe abroad uith the first fleet when the Earle shall send him And never returne to their Majesties dominiones under the paine of Having the sentence of death already pronunced against him Be the Lords Commissioners of Justiciary putt to executione uithout mercy And also he hath found sufficient Cautione acted in the saids books That he shall Goe abroad with the first fleet when the said Earle shall send him and never returne to their Majesties dominiones under the penaltie of five Hundreth merks By and attour the executing of the forsaid sentence of death Against him uithout mercy sic subscribitur Tueeddale Cancell Drumlangrig Argyle Linlithgow Annnandall Selkirk Kintore Breadalbane Strathnaver
