Procedure
Approbatione of the procedure of the Committee and others Anent the Lady Lockhart
The Lord Advocat having reported to the Lords of their Majesties privie Councell That conforme to their Lordships warrand of the date the tuenty second day of december instant Mr William Calderuood Advocat shirreff depute of Edinburgh Mr Patrick Creichtoune servitor to the Clarks of Councell and Mr Robert Patersone servitor to the Lord Advocat Having Gone to the house of Dredden and broken up the sealls searched for peapers and brought in such as they found and some pockett books which his Lordship and the Lord Justice clark Conforme to the saids Lords of privie Councells ordor of the same date forsaid did goe through these papers and the other papers in the Ladies dressing box seased att Edinburgh And finding ther was nothing of Import in any of the saids papers or books they delyvered them all back againe to the Lady except three or four Letters or papers which their Lordship thought fitt to keep till they be furder Inquyred after The saids Lords of their Majesties privie Councell approves of what the Committie and the other persones above named have done in this matter And the said Lord Advocat Having represented that in respect of Captain James Pattoune did refuise to declare who were meaned by the persones to who in the Letters seased upon him were direct or to Give any account anent these Letters The Committie Have Committed him closs prisoner in the tolbooth of Edinburgh The Councell approves of the forsaid Committment
