Comission Frances Naismith to be a macer
A Commissione under the privie seall In favours of Frances Naismith tenementer in Hamiltoun to be one of the ordinarie macers befor the parliament Councill Thesaurie and Exchequer read and ordered to be recorded And he being called in did swear and signe the oath of alleadgeance and signed the assureance appointed be act of parliament And the Lord Chancellour haveing administrat to him the oath de fideli He wes receaved to his office Conforme to the said Commissione wherof the tenor followes
William and Mary by the grace of God King and Queen of great Brittaine France and Ireland defenders of the faith To the Lords of our privie Councill Exchequer and Commissiones And to all and sundrie our Leedges and subjects whom it effeirs To whose knowledge these presents shall come greeting Forasmuch as wee Considdering that the place and office of one of the ordinary macers befor the Lords of our privie Councill parliamentand Commissiones thereof is now vacant and in our hands and at our gift and dispositione throw the deceiss of John Henderson one of the ordinary macers And wee being sufficiently Informed of the fitnes and qualificationes of Frances Naismyth tenementer in Hamilton for exerceing the said office and of his Loyalty and good affectione to us and our government Therfore witt ye us to have nominate appoynted and ordained And by these presents wee nominat appoynt and ordaine the said Frances Naismith to be one of the ordinary macers befor the parliament the Lords of our privie Councill Exchequer and Commissiones And to attend and exerce the same as freely in all respects as the said deceist John Hendersone or any other macer ever exerced or were in use to doe and exerce Giveing Granting and Disponeing Likeas wee be the tenor hereof Give grant and dispone o the said France Naismith the forsaid offices with all fies profites duetyes casualityes and priviledges whatsomever belonging to the said office With power to the said Frances Naismith to use and exerce the said offices and uplift and receave the fies duetyes profites and Casualityes thereof dureing our pleasure sicklyke and also freely in all respects as the said deceist John Hendersone or any others his predicessors macers used and exerced or might have used and exerced the said office in any tyme bygone Commanding hereby the saids Lords of our privie Councill exchequer and Commissiones to receave the said Frances Naismith in the said office In maner abovewreitten And to take for due and Lawfull administratione thereof And to authorize him with there testimoniall of admissione thereunto in due forme as effeirs Given under our privie seall at our court at Kensingtoun the tuenty thirdy day of December Jaj vjc nyntie tuo years And of our reigne the fourth year per signaturum manu S D N Regis subscriptam manibusque Commissionariorum Thesaurarii et Scaccarii dicti Regni Scotiae subscriptam written to the privy seall And registrat the tuenty seventh day of Februarij Jaj vjc nyntie three sic subscribitur J Douglas Sealled at Edinburgh the tuenty seventh day of Februarij Jaj vjc nyntie three years Sic subscribitur John Melvill.
