Act Mr Alexander Haggins anent the Countess of Southesk
Anent the petitione Given In to the Lords of their Majesties privie Councell Be Mr Alexander Higgins advocat Sheuing That wher the Countess of Southesque Having resided at Paris a Considerable tyme for her Health and Given a Commissione to the petitioner for manadging her affairs in Scotland relating to her Joyntur And their Lordships Having been pleased to Grant a uarrand to the petitioner to wryte to her And to Remitt her money In ordor to her returne from France Against the first of Agust last in the termes of the Act of parliament which being done by the petitioner and a Coppie of his Letter being Given to the Lord High Chancellor The Countess hath wryten ane Ansuer which was Immediatly Communicat by the petitioner to the Lord Advocat wherby she Evidenceth her uillingnes to Give all deutifull obedience to the Act of parliament And that she would Gladly have begun her Journey upon recept of the said Letter But that her Indispositione and the seasone of the year maketh it almost Impossible for her to performe such a Journey till the month of February nixt And seing the Act of parliament does Leave it to their Lordships to Give Licences to persones to stay in France after the said first of Agust as they shall see cause and that ther can be noe case more favourable Considering her Indispositione and other Circumstances mentioned most Ingenwously in her said Letter And therfore Humbly the saids Lords uill be pleased to take the forsaid case to their Consideratione And to Grant ane uarrand to the petitioner to wryte to the said Countess as the said petitione Bears The Saids Lords of their Majesties privie Councell Having Considered this petitione Given in to them Be the above Mr Alexander Higgins They Heirby Grant warrand and alloues the said Mr Alexander to wryte to the said Countess In ordor to her returne from France and also to transmitt money or bills to her for defraying the charges of her transportatione The Letter or Letters which shall be wrote by the petitioner being alwayes first revised and marked by their Majesties Advocat
