Act Thomas Riddell skipper

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of their Majesties privy Councill be Thomas Riddell skiper of the goodship called the hopefull Margrat of Leith Shewing That quher the saids Lords by the interloquitor of the seventh of march instant have ordained the petitioner before he saill out this firth to unload the Lead which is in his ship at the port of any royall burgh within the firth which being done to prevent the carieing of the said lead to their majesties enemies And seing the petitioner never hade any such designe And that the unloading of the lead being a great part of his loading will be much to the prejudice both of the petitioner and of his merchants and ouners and will certainely Occasion differences amongst them And seing the petitioner is content instantly to saill with the Dutchman of warr Lying in the road of Leith So Soon as she shall sett saill And to find suficient Cautione acted in the saids Lords books that he shall transport his said vessell and the Lead he shall convoy therin to one of the parties belonging to the provinces of the Unitted Netherlands their majesties allyes and that he shall unload the lead and his other loading at that port And shall returne to the saids Lords a Certificat under the hands of the Conservator that the same is unloaded accordingly And Therfore Humbly Craveing the saids Lords would allow the petitioner to saill with his said ship and lead and other loading therin to any of the ports, belonging to the provinces of the Unitted Neitherlands Upon his giveing bond and finding Cautione in maner forsaid Wherby their Majesties service can nowayes be prejudged and the petitioner his merchants and ouners would be freed of much trouble Loss and expenses and ordaine the bond given up As the said petition bears. The Lords of his Majesties privy Councill haveing Considered this petitione given in to them be the above Thomas Riddell They heirby Allow the petitioner to saill with his above ship and loading in Company with the Dutchman of Warr now lying in the road of Leith when she setts saill, The petitioner first giveing bond and finding Caution acted in the books of privy Councill that he shall transport his said vessell and the lead he shall carie therin to one of the ports belonging to the provinces of the Unitted Natherlands their Majesties allwayes and that he shall unload the said lead and his other loading at that port and shall returne to the Lords a Certificat under the hands of Mr Androw Kennedy Conservator of the Scotts priviledges within the saids Unitted Provinces of the Natherlands betwixt and the […] day of […] under the penaltie of five hundred punds sterling in case of transgressing any part of the premisses And upon finding of this Caution appoints the bond of presentation subscribed by the petitioner and his Cautioners to be given up.
