Act

Act For Revalueing of the shyre of Fife

The Lords of their Majesties privy Councill haveing Considered ane act and Remitt of the estates of parliament Remitting to their Lordships to Consider the petitioners intrest in the said act, Craveing a Rectificatione or revaluatione of the former valuationes within the shyre off Fife, They Heirby Allow all the heritors of the said shyre duely qualified by takeing the oath of alledgance and assurance o meet at Couper and reveiw the former valuationes of the said shyre And to Rectifie and revalue not only for themselvs bot for the haill heritors concerned as they shall find cause And the saids Lords Doe heirby nominat and Appoint Alexander Lord Raith thesaurer depute to be Conveener of the above heritors and valuators with power to his Lordship to appoint the first dyet of their meetting And to the saids heritors and valuators to Choise their oun precess, And to meet therafter at such dyets and places togither or in divyded bodies as they themselves shall appoint, And in caice they faill to meet at the saids dyets and places which shall be appointed be them Then the saids Lords authorizes the said Alexander Lord Raith to appoint any other dyets or places, And to call and Conveen the saids heritors and valuators to meet theron, And Authorizes and Impowers the saids valuators to Call all parties haveing intrest, And to take all maner of probation by witneses writt or oath of partie as they shall find requisit, and to exped the said revaluation with all dilligence, And to setle and give out the rolls therof subscrived with their hands and their Clerk as the Just valuation of the said shyre and rule of payment accordingly in all time comeing, And that all Collectors of the Supply or of any other publict burdein payable out of the said shyre by valuatione may exact and uplift the same by the forsaid new valuatione and roll therof to be established as said is, And when once established, And no otherwayes Provydeing allwayes the saids valuators keep up the old totall of the said shyre and nowayes Diminish the same in this new valuatione or revaluatione And appoints any free of the forsaid valuators to be a quorum Certifieing such as shall not Compeir to give their oathes when requyred they shall be holden as confest, And Declaires the forsaid roll of valuatione to stand good against them whither they Compeir or not And Authorizes the saids valuators to appoint Comitties of their oun number who shall make report to them, one or two of the Commissioners to the parliament for the said shyre being allwayes of the saids Comitties, And generally to doe all and everie thing requisit and usuall in such cases, And the saids Lords Doe heirby Declair that all payments of Cess and other publict burdeins shall be made medio tempore within the said shyre are to be conforme to the old valuation untill this new valuation or revaluation be perfected and Compleited.
