Act Mr Alexander Pittcairn principall of the new Collodge of St Androwes

Anent a Petition given in to the Lords of their Majesties privy Councill be Mr Alexander Pittcairne principall of the new Collodge of St Androwes Shewing That quher the petitioner by ane Decreet before the Lords dated the tenth day of February Jaj vjc Nyntie one obtained ane warrand to pursue for the writtes of the old Collodges and the writtes belonging to the university in comon And with all ane obligatione under the magistrats of St Androwes their hands quherin they are oblidged to preserve these writtes untill they were called for they haveing been depositat in their hands and taken out of the respective Collodges whill the visitation was readie to depose (and Imediatly therafter deposed) The heads of the Collodge and other members of that university Bot because Doctor Skeen as provest of the old Collodge hade in his Custody the writtes belonging to that Collodge and as rector pre tempore the writtes of the university all standing under his seall The petitioner would not medle with the papers untill the Doctor Delivered them upon oath as he was appoynted by the saids Lords act and Decreet forsaid notwithstanding quherof and letters of horning passing therupon, He still refused to doe the same Bot the case of the old Collodge and university calling for the present use of severall papers The petitioners requyred the writtes according to the saids Lords act from the Magistrats of St Androwes (who before that hade pressed the petitioner from day to day to receive these writtes and Mr Violand to receive the writtes belonging to the new Collodge as being a burthen to them and depryveing them of the most usefull rume in their prison) yet then they refused to deliver them up upon what and whose sugestione the petitioner will not determine, Bot the new Collodge Since the petitioners entrie haveing received Collodge Since the petitioners entrie haveing received so much prejudice through the want of these papers And Therfore Humbly Craveing the saids Lords would appoint and Command the magistrats of St Androwes furth with to deliver up the petitioner those papers belonging to the new Collodge petitioner these papers belonging to the new Collodge as the petition bears. The Lords of their Majesties privy Councill haveing Considered this petition given in to them be the above Mr Alexander Pitcairne They Ordaine the magistrats of St Androwes in whose hands the papers belonging to the above new Collodge are, To deliver up the same upon Inventar to the petitioner, And Declaires thir presents with the petitioners recept to be ane suficient exoneration of the writtes which shall be delivered both to the saids magistrats and to the masters of the Collodge And Ordaines horning to be direct heiron against the magistrats to be Condescended upon by name in the letters upon fiftein dayes and others as effeirs.
