Recomendatione To the Lords of Theasury In favours of the subcollectors of the hearth money
The Lords of there Majesties privie Councill doe hereby recomend to the Lords of the theasury to take in the accompts of the hearthmoney from the Collectors and subcollectors by this mains of diligence which shall be accompted a sufficient and exact diligence Viz That the Lords of the Theasury take the oathes of the subcollectors That they have made ocular Inspection of all the hearths within the bounds of there Comission be themselves or have substitute and Imployed others to doe the same And that the persones substitute or Imployed by the Subcollectors give there oathes befor the shirreff of the shyre stewarts of stewartryes Bailzies of Bailzieries or magistrats of the burghes royall within the bounds of there Commissione That they have made ocular Inspectione of the hearths in there bounds And that the saids oaths of persons substitute be reported to the Lords of the Theasury by the subcollectors who Imployed them under the hand of the pairty deponeing and the Judge and Clerk And whatever subcollector or others commissionat by him shall refuse to depone upon this degree of diligence They are to have no sallery But what they were to have have hade is to be given to aneother that shall undertake to doe the same dilence by ocular Inspectione unles the Subcollector himself will yet undertake to doe it.
