Anent a Petition given in to the Lords of their majesties privy Councill be Mr Robert Brown minister of the unitted parishes of Southweek and Cowand Shewing That quher the petitioner preached at the unitted kirks of the said parish before whitsunday Jaj vjc nyntie two, And was admitted minister therof upon the fourth day of October the said year upon his consenting and being content that the former incumbent should have the stipends Jaj vjc Eightie nyne, nyntie and nyntie one, His Grace the Duke of Queensberry Patron of that parish has given his consent that the petitioner should have the stipend of the said Church Jaj vjc nyntie two, Albeit he was not admitted till the saids fourth day of October that year as the right honorable the Earle of Drumlanrig would testifie in name of his Grace And that necessar it was their Lordships authoritie be interponed to the patrons consent for dilligence at the petitioners instance against these Lyable in payment And Therfore Humbly Craveing the saids Lords would ordaine the heritors, Lyfrenters wodsetters and others Lyable in payment of the said stipend To make payment of the same for the said year Jaj vjc nyntie two Conforme to the petitioners Decreet of Localitie, And to Ordaine letters of horning if need bees as the petition bears The Lords of their Majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered this petition given in to them be the above Mr Robert Brown and that the Earle of Drumlanrig one of their oun number present at the board Declared that the Duke of Queensberrie his father as patron of the above kirk did Consent to the granting of the said petition for the reasones therin mentioned And appointed him to signifie so much to the Councill They Allow the petitioner the stipend of the parish of Coweand and Southweek for the haill cropt and year of god Jaj vjc nyntie two, And Ordaines him to be readiely answered obeyed and payed therof be the heritors fewars, wodsetters and others Lyable in payment of the samen And ordaines letters of horning under the Signet of Councill at his instance against them for that effect Upon production of a decreet of Localitie, And in caice ther be non Ordaines these Lyable to make payment of their respective proportiones of the said years stipend according as they shall be the Judge ordinary In Respect he has Sworne and signed the oath of alledgance and subscryved the assurance to their majesties King William and Queen Mary and that in presence of one of the saids Lords of privy Councill.
