Act

Act The heritors of the paroch of Carriden.

Anent the petition given in to the Lords of their Majesties privy Councill be the heritors of the parishin of Carriden and Daniall Hamiltone late Chamberland of Grang Shewing That wher the schoolhouse of the said parishin was alltogither ruinous in the year J^aj vj^c Eightie seven, The petitioner did for the good of the said parishin give Commission to repair the same, and make it fitt for ane schooll for the education of boyes and another for Laces which being furnished in the same year, The expence therof amounts to betwixt nyne hundred and one thousand pund scots money Wherof in all reason and² equity the said parishin Ought to releive the petitioners in a Considerable part of the Same; Consisting of Skippers seamen and other substantiall Tradsmen besydes a great many fewers and substantiall husbandmen who have the benefit of the same And Therfore Humbly Suplicating to the effect aftermentioned The Lords of their majesties privy Councill Haveing Considered the above petition given in to them be the heritors of the parish of Carriden and Daniall Hamilton late Chamberland of Grange They heirby Ordaine the heritors parishoners and elders of the said parish to meet and to stent the haill heritors, skipers, seamen, husbandmen, and Tradsmen within the said parish for defraying the expenses of repairing the above shooll not exceiding the soume of One Thousand pounds Scots to be Imposed upon the wholl parish Conforme to their respective proportiones of the saids severall parishoners, And appoints the said soume when³ Imposed to be payed in to […] Steiven presenter at the said parish kirk of Carriden, And Ordaines letters of horning on fiftein dayes to be direct heiron and on the stent roll when the same shall be made up for payment of the particular proportiones Imposed upon the severall persones mentioned in the said roll
