Proclamatione Adjurning the Generall assembly
William and Mary By the Grace of God King and Queen of great Brittaine France and Ireland defenders of the faith To […] Macers of our privie Councell Messengers at armes our shirreffs in that part Conjunctlie and severally specially Constitut Greeting Forasmuch as We being firmly resolved That the General Assembly of the Church of this our antient Kingdome showld meet according to Law Did by our proclamatione of the date the tuenty seventh day of september Last Indict and appoynte a Generall Assembly of the said Church to meet at Edinburgh the sixth day of december nixt And ue Considering that our being detained from Brittaine beyond our expectatione did necessarly hinder the tymely ordoring of what concerned the meeting of the said Assembly And Hoping that a delay may be more for the advantadge of the Church in this our antient kingdome and the Good of our service seing therby uee shall have tyme fully to Instruct our Commissioner and better prepare and have matters in readiness for the meeting of the said Generall assembly Therfore we uith advyce of the Lords of our privie Councell Have thought fitt to delay and adjurne the meeting of the said Generall assembly of the Church of this our antient kingdome from the said sixth day of december nixt To meet at Edinburgh the tuenty nynth day of March Jaj vic nyntie four years And that the members of the said assembly be not putt to the trowble of attending before that tyme We doe Heirby declare the same to be adjurned to the said tuenty nynth day of March accordingly Our uill is Hierfore And ue Charge yow strictly and Command That Incontinent these our Letters seen ye pass to the mercat cross of Edinburgh and whole other mercat crosses of the head burghs of the severall shires uithin this Kingdome And ther In our name and authority make publicatione of the premisses That none pretend Ignorance and ordaines these presents to be printed Given under our signet at Edinburgh the tuenty Eight day of november and of our Reigne the fifth year 1693 sic subscribitur Tueeddale cancel: Linlithgow Annandale Tarbat Stair Raith Poluarth James Steuart John Lauder W Anstruther
