Decreet
Interloquitor anent the oath taken by the sub-Collectors2 of the herthmoney
The Lords of their Majesties privy Councill haveing Considered the oath wherof the tenor followes I etc Doe heirby Declair upon my Solemn oath in presence of etc That the forsaid list of hearths extending to etc which are payed and etc which are unpayed Is a true and Just list of all the hearths of the forsaid parishin of etc to the best of my knowledge Excepting etc hearths of poor and that I have used my outmost endeavor to come to the knowledge of all the hearths of the said parishins And that I have not wittingly concealled any, But given up the samen as said is, as I shall answer to god, They heirby Recomend to the Lords Commissioners of their majesties thesaurie to take the oathes of the sub Collectors of the hearth money at giveing in the lists of the hearths Collected by them in the termes of the above oath Bot prejudice allwayes to the saids Lords to take what other courses they think fitt for Farder discovering of the hearths which may be concealled or deficient and not contained in the lists deponed upon.
