Letter from the King adjurning the Generall Assembly

The Follouing Letter Being redd approven and signed was ordored to be recorded quherof the tenor folloues

Right Trustie and right uell beloved Cousin and Councellor right trustie and Entirely beloved Cousine and Councellor Right trustie and right uell Beloved Cousins and Councellors Right trustie and uell beloved Cousins and Councellors Right trustie and right uell beloved Councellors Right trustie and uell beloved Councellors and trustie and uell Beloved Councellors We Greet yow well Wheras by our former Letter wee did authorize and Requyre you to Issue out a proclamatione for Calling a Generall Assembly to meet at Edinburgh the sixth day of december nixt We are firmly resolved that Generall assemblys shall meet according to Law But we being detained beyond our expectatione from Brittaine And Hoping that a delay may be more for the advantadge of the Church in that our antient Kingdome and the Good of our service Because therby ue shall have tyme fully to Instruct our Commissioner and matters may be in more readines and better prepared Therfore It is our pleasure And we doe authorize and Requyre you to Emitt a proclamatione in our names Adjurning the meeting of the Generall assembly from the sixth day of December nixt to the tuenty nynth day of March Jaj vic nyntie four years at Edinburgh And that such Intimationes be Speedily made as may Certifie the Commissioners from the severall presbytries not to Give their attendance till the tuenty nynth day of March forsaid For doing wherof This our Royall Letter to be Recorded in your Books shall be to yow a sufficient warrant Given at our Court at Kensingtoune the 24 day of november 1693 And of our Reigne the 5th year By his Majesties Command sic subscribitur John Dalrymple
